1 Corinthians 1:22God’s way seems foolish to the Jews because they want a sign from Heaven to prove it is true. And it is foolish to the Greeks because they believe only what agrees with their own wisdom.
Many times we have been like the Jews and the Greeks that Paul was talking about in this passage. When God gives us something that might sound foolish to us, we either want a sign from God to prove that it is true, or else we don’t believe what we heard because it doesn’t agree with the way that we desired things to happen or go the way we thought things should go.
Sometimes we might not understand why God is telling us to do something or go in a certain direction or just be still. Sometimes when He tells us something it might sound completely ridiculous to us and we can’t comprehend how what God told us will lead us to the place we are trying to go. But it is not up to us to try to comprehend or discover the whys or the hows, it is up to us to trust God and have faith in Him. Because our faith works by love (Galatians 5:6); it does not work by our own works, our own ideas, or our own wisdom.
1 Corinthians 1:25
This “foolish” plan of God is far wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is far stronger than the greatest of human strength.
As you can see from that scripture our wisdom is nothing compared to His wisdom, so it is time for us to stop relying on our own wisdom and rely on the wisdom of God.
1 Corinthians 1:19-20
I will destroy human wisdom and discard their most brilliant ideas, so where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made them all look foolish and has shown their wisdom to be useless nonsense.
1 Corinthians 1:27-29
Instead, God deliberately chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose those who are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world; things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important, so that no one can ever boast in the presence of God.
God will use those things that seem foolish to us, or things that we don’t understand to get us where we need to go, this is all so that we will not boast of ourselves or of others, but that we will stand and say… “This was all God, because I never would have thought of this, or done this on my own.”
So people of God I just want to encourage everyone out there let’s begin to put our own wisdom aside, and the wisdom of man aside, and begin to totally trust, rely, and have faith in the wisdom of God. If we will allow Him to guide and direct us in all of our ways then we cannot go wrong.
I pray this has blessed you!
