Famine: “A general want of provisions sufficient for the inhabitants of a country.”
-Webster’s 1828
As I was praying I saw a vision of miles and miles of crops and they were all withered and dead, and I heard God say, “you must bear fruit in the midst of famine” it just kept repeating over and over and over again. Those dead crops I saw are the time we are in now. There is famine all across the land, and when I say famine I’m not just talking about a lack of food. I’m talking about a lack of jobs, a lack of resources, etc. a recession is happening and we can see the effects all around us. It is not only affecting people’s bank accounts and livelihood; this famine is affecting the hearts of the people, the attitudes of the people. People are doing all types of things in this time out of desperation, fear, anger, and depression. But in this time of famine God is saying to every believer, you must not be like the world, you must bear fruit in the midst of the famine. We are to bear fruit in our hearts, in our attitudes, and in our lives. That means no matter what is going on around us, or within our own lives, we must keep the right attitude, we must keep the right mind set based on the Word of God. Remember we do not have to worry during this time. Psalm 37:19 says…
In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
The Word of God says that we do not have to be like those withered and dead crops that God showed me. If we get laid off, we can retain our joy, and thank God for the promotion that He is giving us, if times are tough we can keep our peace because of the promise of God.
It is in this time of famine that the church must bear fruit, because it is the fruit which will draw many unto Christ. If people see that we are not affected by what is going on, don’t you think that they will want to know why? And that is the perfect opportunity to tell them the answer…Jesus! God is beautifying His bride, His church, we are on display for all to see, we must represent Him with our lives, and with our fruit. So I charge all of you out there if your heart and attitude hasn’t been right in the midst of everything that has been going on, change your ways and start to bear fruit in the midst of the famine. God bless!!
