From time to time the question comes up about why it seemed as if the power of God flowed so much more miraculously in the Biblical times than it does today. I believe that we read about so many more miracles that happened in those days because people believed in the whole power of God much more.Today we say we believe in God, and we do; but do we believe in our own minds that God can and will perform the way He did during biblical times. God hasn’t changed one bit, the scripture says that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
The issue lies within us, since the fall of mankind when Adam committed the sin in the Garden of Eden we have been in a continual downfall away from God. As mankind becomes more and more scientific and technologically advanced we begin to use those theories in place of Gods power.
The reason we don’t see the power of God move like it did in biblical times is simply because we have fallen into a subconscious unbelief, and we try to figure everything out in God’s Word first in order for us to believe. We go to Bible school, and learn all we can intellectually, we study the scriptures, and we become self proclaimed Bible scholars. We only choose to accept what we can figure out, and since we are filled with the Holy Spirit, God will give us revelation knowledge bit by bit and we think we got everything figured out.
Well, I’m going to tell you right now; I don’t know about everything in the Bible but I do believe everything I read. The Bible is filled with hidden treasures and mysteries; I don’t think that there is one person on the earth that knows every single thing in the Bible, because it’s a never ending book just like its creator, God. God is the beginning and end (Revelation 1:8); He keeps on going and going never coming to an end.
We believe but we don’t
Mark 9:23-24 (KJV)
Jesus said unto him, if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
Today many of us are like that father, we believe everything in the Bible, but it’s hard for us to believe that it can happen in our life or in our presence. We have to get rid of the unbelief that is talked about in the above scripture. I strongly believe that we are about to witness the power of God move on the earth in a greater way than it did in the biblical days, so it is time to start believing.
Will you believe?
