A Love Problem

The other day I was reading an intro to a book and it said…“The answer to religious complacency isn’t working harder at a list of dos and don’ts –it’s falling in love with God.”  It really hit me.  Recently myself and a couple of other women have been praying for the Body.  It has been hard for us to see the staggering amount of people who claim they’re Christian and yet see no movement within the Body. It seems so many people are only moving within the boundaries of their local church walls.  I’ve talked to a lot of people that aren’t believers and they comment that they dislike Christian people because of the hypocrisy that they witness.  We say one thing and do another.  It seems like we’ve become a Sunday people, but what about the days in between Sundays?  What are we doing then?  What are we doing when a co-worker looks like they’ve got something going on?  What are we doing when we see someone sitting on a bench outside crying quietly to themselves?  What are we doing when we walk down the streets of our neighborhoods and see young women and young men disrespecting themselves and each other?  What are we doing in between Sundays?

That brings me back to the statement above. I know I just commented on “doing” and it says the answer is not wholly in what we do, a key element is also falling in love with God, to me, probably the most important.  The more we fall in love with God, the more we will fall in love with His creations.  The more we grow close to Him and His heart, the more we can hear Him giving us direction and wisdom. The more we submerge ourselves in His love, the more love will pour out of us.  Love is the key.  It’s the answer to what we need, and it’s the answer to what the world needs.  As we fall deeper in love with God, we will naturally begin to do the things to naturally progress the Body.

This world doesn’t want to be preached at any more.  It doesn’t want to be told it is bad and sinful.  It’s already aware of its own nature, and has been deceived into thinking that its current nature is the only way, so people have resorted to just dealing with being oppressed, not having an consistent example of true witnesses for Christ.  What the world wants, needs, and craves is love. We have to have the love of God in our hearts and pour that love into those we come in contact with in between Sundays. When that love is so strong in us because we are head over heels in love with God, then we will be willing to go, and to do. We will be willing to love the drug dealers and gang bangers on the street corners.  We will be able to love the homeless.  We will be able to love the pimp and the prostitute.  We will be able to love the “unlovable”.  I want to encourage each of you out there reading this, stop trying to figure out what to do, and fall in love with God all over again. It is in that love that you will find your answers.

God bless!
